Ziggurat Zions (Lycos) | 1 | 2 | Underdark Exiles (Luke) | Final |
| 4 | 3 | 130000 |
| Lycos: Dont let the scoreline fool you, this was not a close game. Luke recd and drove up the pitch to score in T3 or 4. There was a an odd CAS on the way but in my drive I double skulled at a key moment and Luke engineered the ball loose and stormed in to pick up. It was 2-0 not long later about T6. I doubled oned in T7 and that led to a BC being booted out of the game - we had now traded a few fouls!
2H and I needed to score twice so a quick score was important. Luke rolls a Blitz and I am in trouble. That was enough to make getting headway hard and in about T5 the turnover came, Luke playing a solid game, not needing to do anything clever to be fair, just good steady stuff. After 8 dice I eventually get the ball carrier over and some serious bull**** play including a long bomb to a Bull center resulted in my getting a very late consolation. |
| Luke: Dave won the toss and chose to kick, I scored in about turn 4 by running a cage down the right of the pitch after Dave had moved to cover my initial charge up the left. The TD came at the high price with the use of my apothecary, death of my sidestep blitzer and injury to another player.
On the restart Dave gets the ball and cages up in his own half, feeling that I need to do something before more of my elves get injured I surround the cage, separating it from the blockers on the LOS. I get the chance to sack the hobgoblin ball carrier after Dave double skulz trying to blitz round my line, and I quickly make it 2-0.
My good luck continues in the 2nd half, I blitz from the kick off and manage to get the ball back after more bad dice from Dave. For a while it looks like its going to be 3-0 but the hobgoblins eventually manage to sack my dodge lineman, but a lot time has passed now and the game is safe when an incredible long bomb sets up a consolation TD.
After a good start where I suffered 3 casualties in the 1st 3 turns Dave’s luck deserted him, his block rolls where poor and he was consistently failing GFIs, both at key moments to, am very relieved as I expected Dave to grind out textbook a 2-1 win or batter my team and win it in overtime, but in the end I just had to take the opportunities when they came along.

Ziggurat Zions (Lycos) | 2 | 1 | The Mean Green Running Machine (Giess) | Semi-Final |
| 4 | 8 | 102000 |
| Lycos: Orcs v Chaos Dwarves was never going to be spectacle of throwing, dodging and daring ball skills. So Adam and I didn’t let you down. This was as brutal a game as I can recall.
Firstly the handicap roll gave Adam 2+ on all Ko’s which proved handy to him but his niggle DP failed to show so 16 v 13 for the match. I kicked deep and Adam launched into a crusade of 10 plus rolls for armour and injury from the off and as I moved my counter for T3 I had a Mino Ko’d and 3 CAS though I used the apoth. So 11 v 8 and he has the ball nicely in the pocket. A nice drive by the Orcs produced a death to my block/breakT Bull C and then another death to a CD and though I did eventually work a block to get the ball lose, Adam soon had it back again and walked it in on T8 but I had 2 CAS back by now. I had one turn to bash back but having done roll after roll of 10 plus I rather foolishly said aloud to Dan T and the other SF boys, “he has to roll a blitz! He can’t stop rolling 10’s”.
You gotta laugh when it happens. The Orcs were in thumping mode and no CD’s were going to stop them.
Adam booted the kick down deep to me and we traded 3 somewhat quieter turns with no losses. If there was a defining moment where it might go my way it was when the mino decided he was going to play. Two Deaths suddenly gave me open field to run to and a slightly better numerical situation. I scored in T6 which gave Adam 3 turns to win. Two turns of his positioning and my two turns defending resulted in Adam having the last turn to win. Needing 4+, 3+ and 2 gfi’s, victory was not to be, failing the first dodge.
Extra time and I win the roll to receive. Two turns later and more CAS followed, and then more….No14, my star ball handling hob goblin ran for it and I managed some cover so with 6 CD’s vs 8 Orcs left on pitch I managed a late 2D blitz on the covering goblin to dive home. I lost the CAS war 4-8 but a 2-1 win in extra time was all that mattered I guess. Two deaths and a MNG have hit the squad hard but I rolled a 6 for winnings so Luke may end up facing 16 players yet. |
| Giess: Great game, Dave was under pressure from very early on, with the casulties mounting up quickly, But he soaked up worst of my bashing and depsite both losing some key players we were back to a 11 apiece (just) for the 2nd half. After a slow start to ther 2nd half, He got in the touchdown without to many worries and did enough to keep the orks out untill the end of the second half. Extra time started and I had the man advantage, but just as dave switched play and left my defence outpositioned, my black orks (who had been having another immaculate game) finally came up with a long overdue double skull, Dave took full advantage leaving me with a goblin and line ork to cover the break and suffice to say they weren't up to the job. But it was a seriously enjoyable game and I can't think pf a better way to go out. Congrats to Dave, he didn't put a foot wrong all game and deserved the win. |

Underdark Exiles (Luke) | 2 | 0 | The Deaths Door Cheetahs (bigallium) | Semi-Final |
| 2 | 2 | 92000 |
| Luke: The key moment of the match occurred ½ way through the 1st half, had been had been slowly making progress down field when the bigallium decides to blitz this S5 werewolf into a player guarding the back of my cage. I move the whole cage back to blitz the werewolf and foul him out the game, after this I get back down field and make it 1-0. Second half a blitz and a nice kick sees me put bigallium under pressure, the other werewolf is promptly fouled off the pitch and with it go any serious chance of an equaliser before the end of the game. I got lucky causing injuries and knockouts, taking out both werewolfs, and knocking out a flesh golem 1st turn, this made things easy for me and impossible for bigallium. |
| bigallium: out coached, outplayed and out fouled (both carebears). Congrats to Luke, it was just a game too far for the smelliest team in the semi\'s ;] |

Ziggurat Zions (Lycos) | 2 | 1 | Blackspire Infernos (Indigo) | League |
| 7 | 1 | 86000 |
| Lycos: Numbers were always likely to be a factor with my 16 v Indi\'s 13. His niggles passed and I kicked and we both used our apoths in our first turns on our respective Mino/RO. But the killing soon started and by T3 I had killed 2 of the 3 GR\'s and my plan to target them was working. Killing 2 was a bit excessive perhaps. Indi made a good score in his T5 giving me 4 turns but by now he was setting up with 9 at best. That was soon less and more CAS (but not deaths) followed, inc the Rat Ogre. ZZ Top made it 1-1 in the last turn of the half and now the Rats were down to 8 with KO\'s back.
So the long drive started and a bad kick meant the ST4 Bull C had the ball v 8 ST3 Rats and guard in abundance. I could have walked in in 2 turns but I confess I chose to batter the crap out of the Skaven and by the time I walked in in T8 there was 1 line rat left in the other half of the pitch. The good news for Adam is my high TR with bad news I have 4 Guarders now and 14FF.
So all 4 from the HMV made it to the SFs. How about that. |

The Deaths Door Cheetahs (bigallium) | 1 | 0 | The Ravens (Richy) | League |
| 4 | 1 | 63000 |
| bigallium: Richy\'s boys had a 1st half (if it were only so easy)to forget. Coach was up for it, players were not. After a couple of short terms by the Ravens and the Cheetahs were on top. With the ball recovered and the dark elves still conspiring to make Richy give up coaching the lead was taken by the deadites.
2nd half was a different story and the ravens were up for the party. A couple of beuty 1/2 dicers on the Werewolf and plenty of dodge and wieve, and the ball had been pried loose and the race was on. Unfortunately (for both sides) the ref hadn\'t bothered coming out for the 2nd half and a half ruled by the boot boys had reduced numbers significantly. A valient and purposeful strive for the endzone failed, as the full time bell was about to chime, as the curse of the snake eyes revisted the ravens at the very last oppurtunity.
The Cheetahs coaching staff was added to once again, now consisting of a Dark elf, an Orc, a Skaven and a \'retired\' zombie. |

Underdark Exiles (Luke) | 1 | 0 | Bogenhoffen Braves (Firebreather) | Other |
| 0 | 1 | 59000 |
| Luke: The Exiles squeeze through thier 1/4 final, in the 1st half just about manage a TD under heavy pressure. The rest of the game is spent hanging on for dear life. Firebreather was unlucky not to at least take the gaming into extra time, but it all came down to a 4+ dodge to equalise which he thankfully failed. |
| Firebreather: The braves signed out with there heads held high, a really good tactical game, had chances to turn the exiles over but the dice weren`t quite there.
Played for a late score in the 2nd half and came close just needed the 4+, still theres always next year. |

Falantir Falcons (Geggster) | 1 | 2 | The Mean Green Running Machine (Giess) | Other |
| 1 | 7 | 63000 |
| Geggster: Ouch. Unbeaten throughout the season, but that counts for nothing when taken apart by some homicidal and well-drilled orcs. I had unilaterally decided against using a wizard - Luke hadn\'t used one against me in last year\'s Prem Final either, so it seemed karma. But with my niggle failing (leaving me with 12 for the game) and first three blocks leaving me with 2 injuries and a KO (that never returned), it meant I never had more than 9 in a turn - including my first one. This was always going to be close, such is Adam's coaching ability and his pretty decent team, but now it looked very serious for the Elves. First half was still nip and tuck and the banana defence worked well keeping the Orcs out. A four turn score in the second half (with only 8) got the lead and the orcs needed a real hurry-up offence to pull it level. So hurry-up, that I managed to get a (fortuitous) blitz on his thrower in my last turn and knocked the ball loose. Adam needed a 3+ without reroll to take the match to OT... and rolled a 3. And so the match swerved inexorably towards the orcs. (Nearly) stopping him had been expensive and I could only field 6 for extra time (down to one after two turns as Adam then just rolled 10s - though to be fair, the game was already won). It didn\'t take long for Adam to roll in for the winner and move on to the semis. Congrats to him and best of luck on his future matches. A close game and one to remember :o) |
| Giess: Thats a pretty good summary of how it went, the black orks were near immaculate. Considering how many 1\\\'s Paul rolled in the first few turns, and how well the match started for me Paul made the best of a bad situation and played some great defence, it turned out to be an amazing close game, and came right down to the last roll of turn 16. |
